Supper Club is one of those amazing experiences that you look forward to having again and again. Upon arriving, you are greeted by the Chesapeake Bay as you walk up the brick path lined with roses and hydrangeas. As soon as you round a brick bend you seeing the wood fire iron cauldron in the middle of the lawn shooting flames up through the first of the Chefs creations to start the evening. As you walk across the lawn towards the water, being handed the first hors oeuvres from the fire, you are greeted with a warm smile and a first of 5 libation pairings. As you stand on the boardwalk waiting for the rest of your party to arrive, you breathe in the air, open your mind to the silence of waves and realize you are among a group of very lucky people tonight.
After some time strolling the boardwalk, with some venturing down to the private beach to skip some rocks in high heels, it is time to go inside. You could hardly call it inside as 3 of the 4 walls are floor to ceiling glass, putting the gorgeous colors of the sunset on full display in the comfort of a cushioned chair and your next libation of the evening in front of you.
Over and over again beautiful plates are placed in front of everyone. Dishes prepared in ways never thought about let alone seen before. The flavors of the different meats, vegetables delivered in such an order as to create a rhythm of flavor in your mouth. And the sauces, my goodness, with depth that reaches beyond the bite, encompassing everything into the perfect meal.
After the fifth course and libation, the table of strangers is now a group of friends, connecting over this shared experience of incredible food on an incredible night. As the candle wicks all around the room burn lower, dessert is served with a delicious apéritif. Haven eaten every bite of the food and still left time for great conversation; you might be unsure if you could go on. But with one taste of that dessert, the amazing burst of indulgent flavor vaporized, leaving no heaviness but a beautiful memory of flavor teasing you on from one bite to another until the last bite of your 5-course culinary masterpiece is enjoyed.
